Something strange is happening -- there is a great silence on earth today, a great silence and stillness. The whole earth keeps silence because the King is asleep. The earth trembled and is still because God has fallen asleep in the flesh, and He has raised up all who have slept ever since the world began. God has died in the flesh, and hell trembles with fear. --From an ancient homily on Holy Saturday
"My soul is sorrowful even unto death. Stay here and keep watch with Me."
The Sacred Triduum -- the holiest celebration of the entire Church year -- begins tonight at 7:00 PM with our annual Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord's Supper. We adore you, O Christ, and we praise you, because by your holy Cross you have redeemed the world.
As we continue through Holy Week, we join our prayers with the faithful in Paris and around the world as we mourn the serious damage inflicted on Notre Dame de Paris. Let us pray that this destruction may be transformed into the peace and hope of the Resurrection, in which Christ promised that He would raise up the temple of His Body after its earthly destruction. (Image: The main cross and altar inside Notre Dame Cathedral stand tall and unbroken amid the fiery ruins.)
Join us at 7:00 PM tonight in the church for an evening of Taize prayer and music!
